NEWMARKET, September 16, 2015 – Final paving will begin on Davis Drive in Newmarket next week and will continue intermittently over the next several weeks. The first phase of paving will take place from just west of Yonge Street to just east of Main Street. Once the paving is completed on the west end of the corridor, the second phase of final paving will take place from Main Street to east of Huron Heights Drive/Alexander Road.
Crews will pave the east and westbound traffic lanes first, followed by side streets, main intersections and then the centre rapidway lanes. During paving activity, traffic along Davis will be reduced to one lane in each direction and will shift sides where needed. Paid-duty police officers will be on location to assist in directing traffic.
Access to businesses and services will be maintained throughout the paving process as much as possible, and temporary parking will be available on designated side streets.
This represents a major milestone in the development of the Davis Drive corridor as we approach the launch of Viva rapid transit service by the end of this year.
VivaNext thanks everyone for their patience and understanding during this disruption as Davis Drive is transformed into a modern urban corridor.
Please note, as with all road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather. VivaNext will provide advance notice whenever possible.
