NEWMARKET, April 23, 2015 – As part of the York Viva Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project on Davis Drive in the Town of Newmarket, Davis Drive will be closed to local traffic and pedestrians from Main Street to Charles Street/Bayview Parkway over the Victoria Day long weekend (May 15-19). The closure will start after the last evening GO train on May 15 and will re-open before the first morning GO train on May 19. During the closure, the shops, restaurants and services along Davis Drive will maintain their regular business hours. This work is required to widen Davis Drive at the GO rail track and replace all existing rail infrastructure and crossing signals.
Signed detour routes and police officers will be in the area to help navigate traffic and pedestrians around the closure to ensure they reach their destination safely and as quickly as possible.
VivaNext thanks everyone for their patience and understanding as Davis Drive is transformed. The rapidway is scheduled to open December 2015.
