NEWMARKET – The Ontario Budget released today at Queen’s Park commits more than $3 billion over the next two years for public transit initiatives across the Province.

The Regional Municipality of York applauds the Ontario Government for making such a significant funding commitment to public transit.

“By supporting public transit, the province will help create a seamless rapid transit system across the GTA, reducing traffic congestion, increasing productivity and improving the environment,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Bill Fisch. “During this difficult economic period, investing in public transit provides a much needed economic stimulus and create jobs.”
