November 03, 2017

Starting next week, crews will be extending a culvert on Highway 7, east of Wigwoss Drive/Helen Street. Plus, starting tomorrow, preparation work for crosswalk street printing will be happening at Millway Avenue and Highway 7. In addition, crews will begin the construction of a retaining wall west of Weston Road on Monday. Please see below for further details.

culvert work east of Wigwoss/Helen:

Map: Highway 7 West work area
work dates*: Monday, Nov. 6 for approximately three months
work hours*: 7am–5pm [24hr/day lane closures]
  • To accommodate culvert work, a short segment of the curb lanes [eastbound and westbound] on Hwy 7, east of Wigwoss/Helen will be closed.
  • At times, pedestrians may be detoured to the sidewalk on the opposite side of Hwy 7 from where work is happening. Directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk.
  • Some weekend work will be required.
  • For more information about culverts, check out our blogpost, What is a culvert, anyway?

crosswalk street printing at Millway Ave. & Hwy 7:

work dates*: Saturday, Nov. 4 & the week of Monday, Nov. 6
work hours*: 7am–5pm
  • To accommodate preparation work for crosswalk street printing at the Hwy 7 and Millway intersection, curb lanes in both directions in the area will be closed on Saturday.
  • Starting Monday, crews will start installing the street printing at the intersection's crosswalks.
  • Crosswalk street printing refers to road markings that clearly show where pedestrians are to cross the street at signalized intersections. The stamping gives the impression of a cobblestone path on the road.

retaining wall west of Weston Rd.:

work dates*: Monday, Nov. 6 for approximately three weeks
work hours*: 7am–5pm
  • To accommodate construction of a retaining wall, a short segment of the westbound curb lane on Hwy 7, west of Weston Rd. will be closed.
general impacts:
  • Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks. Directional signs will be posted on site.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible. Check twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates.
