Yonge Street / Richmond Hill
Transit connections are transforming Richmond Hill – with the rapidway project on Yonge Street now open!
In Richmond Hill, where the future Yonge North Subway Extension will end, a new journey begins. Here, the Yonge Street rapidway keeps you on your journey on the Greater Toronto Area’s most storied corridor. As life along Yonge continues to look up, plans for this area include new shopping and entertainment, places to live and work, and vibrant public spaces.
On Sunday, December 20, 2020, the Yonge rapidway opened for service from Highway 7 to 19th Avenue/Gamble Road! Yonge now has upgraded utilities, sidewalks lined with planters for trees and shrubs, and dedicated bike lanes, bringing more inviting places to walk and cycle. Building communities around fast, convenient transit can transform lives and help shape future growth.
Throughout York Region, there are nearly 34 kilometres of rapid transit connecting our busiest city centres, and more to come with the future Yonge North Subway extension and future bus rapid transit.
